Replicant (Review)

"This year, JCVD must kill.... JCVD!"

“This year, JCVD must kill…. JCVD!”

In this film JCVD is actually a bad guy who is on a one man killing spree. Michael Rooker is leading the investigation crew trying to track him down unsuccessfully for over three years.

They have tried to hunt him down for three whole years, with no luck, so they clone JCVD using DNA to help find the killer.

Now read that again.

The FBI haven’t got the manpower, equipment and skill to catch the killer… but they can clone him!!!

Rooker treats the clone much like a naughty dog, and in that regard the film is a lot like Unleashed (a far, far better film by the way).

I can’t remember specifics for you, this movie ended up after my normal bedtime and I was a bit sleepy, but rest assured JCVD gets the hooker in the end. Sorry if I spoiled the ending for you guys.

1 – Why is he French?

Not sure, maybe that’s just the way they cloned him.

2 – Who is he saving/helping?

The FBI. Society.

3 – Who is the Bad Guy(s)?

Technically JCVD is the bad guy.

4 – Does he do the splits?

Yep.

5 – Is he shirtless in the film?

Yep.

6 – Does he hold poses after the final punch/kick? (Extra points for slo-mo!)

No.

7 – Is the soundtrack full of ‘orrible cheesy toons?

No.

8 – Are there any other recognisable actors in the film?

Only Mickey Rooker, who I know best from Slither.

9 – Is there a love interest? (Or at least some tit!)

No., aside from the hooker.

10 – Is the damme thing any damme good?

No. No it isn’t.

Verdict – An out there premise that never really worked.

About OGR

While I try to throw a joke or two into proceedings when I can all of the opinions presented in my reviews are genuine. I don't expect that all will agree with my thoughts at all times nor would it be any fun if you did, so don't be shy in telling me where you think I went wrong... and hopefully if you think I got it right for once. Don't be shy, half the fun is in the conversation after the movie.
