Judgment Night (Review)
How cutting edge is this!?! In an attempt to stay relevant I am reviewing a 16 year old film that sold approximately zero tickets starring a bunch of guys that would probably be happier if this wasn’t on their resume. … Continue reading

Monsters Vs Aliens (Review)
Monsters Vs Aliens is the latest Dreamworks Animation effort, they have been on the improve over the years but are still light years behind Pixar in terms of quality and consistency. No shame there I guess, (so is every other … Continue reading

The Uninvited (Review)
The Uninvited would be an apt title for any number of US remakes of foreign language films, and even 20 odd year old American films for that matter. Other proposals for you: – The Unnecessary – The Uninspired Ideas – … Continue reading

Shutter (Review)
This is the original Thai version, not the US remake that I have heard is rubbish, as most remakes are. The Ring being the most notable example. In an unprecedented first for OGR I did a few clicks research to find that … Continue reading

The Ultimate MixTape – Best 80s Music (Ol’ School Edition)
Anyone under 25 would probably call this the Ultimate Playlist, but I’m about a decade beyond that and therefore the MixTape it is. I went by the blank CD rule of having to fit everything in a time limit of … Continue reading

Playa Hatin’ – Lazy Personal Number Plates
Yes I’m a hater.
Firstly, I sincerely believe that those of us in Gen X and I guess now Gen Y have grown up in the best era of known memory, I might be missing a decade or two during the industrial revolution but I doubt it.
We’ve had a golden era of TV, movies and music, technology has improved at an exponential rate and continues to do so and the last 15 years in Australia has been an unprecedented period of economic prosperity, meaning we could afford to indulge ourselves more and immerse ourselves in all of the above.
During my 20’s I had the constant challenge to decide if I would check a movie, watch high level sport from all over the globe, play a computer game or simply veg out with some tunes, and in the last 5 years since broadband I probably don’t really need to leave the house. I now have all over the above plus I can waste countless hours on the net, including the weeks of the year that I would blow monitoring my fantasy NBA and AFL teams.
Yet despite all our blessings there are still a huge number of things that I simply despise, some things I can forgive and some things I can’t, no matter how hard I try.
Some of these hates are constants and others flare up when I am faced or reminded of them, but rest assured I hate them all no matter how frivolous you might find them. Continue reading

The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring (Review)
When I was a brash young lad I tried so hard not to follow “the crowd” that I would often deliberately bypass mainstream fare even if I suspected I might like it. It was a short term phase, I eventually … Continue reading
