Some Guy Who Kills People (Review)

some_guy_who_kills_peopleAwful title by the way.

Some Guy Who Kills People is about a quiet young man who has been released from a mental health facility, and his efforts to reintegrate into society.

No wait… It’s about rediscovering oneself with the introduction of a daughter he never knew existed.

But really… It’s about finding love in the form of the adorable young British woman room Shaun of the Dead who overpronounces every syllable, forcing you to rapidly find her less adorable.

Now that I think about it… It’s about a series of murders that all seem linked, with grave evidence at the crime scenes being a precursor to more bloodshed.

The fact is… That this film is about far too much to ever be focussed enough to make an impression.

And I haven’t even mentioned… that Kenny draws cartoons, that he was the victim of trauma as a child, that his mum is perpetually snarky, sarcastic and degrading of his every effort, that his daughter is not only mature and responsible, but demands he spend time with her to catch up on time lost. That the cop investigating the murders happens to be dating Kenny’s mum!

Some Guy Who Kills People might actually have started life as two scripts crammed together. It’s ironic that Kenny finds a job in an ice cream shop, seeing as there are altogether too many flavours in this film, all combining to cause only confusion and brain freeze.

Final Rating – 6 / 10. Too much of a good thing can occasionally cause complacency, here it causes disappointment.

About OGR

While I try to throw a joke or two into proceedings when I can all of the opinions presented in my reviews are genuine. I don't expect that all will agree with my thoughts at all times nor would it be any fun if you did, so don't be shy in telling me where you think I went wrong... and hopefully if you think I got it right for once. Don't be shy, half the fun is in the conversation after the movie.
