Pure Luck (Review)

pure_luckWhen the world’s unluckiest woman – and the daughter of a multi-millionaire no less – goes missing, apparently the only solution is to call on the world’s unluckiest man, with a disbelieving private investigator in tow,

Martin Short is the guy to whom ‘worst case scenario’ is a constant state of being. Danny Glover is the PI who has seen it all but cannot find a single clue. Together they enjoy an amiable friction, a pleasant disliking.

There is much stumbling, bumbling and disgusted looks shared betwixt the pair, and to be frank exactly what you would expect from a rote 90s comedy. Short is made for this sort of physical comedy, and his mindless optimism in the face of all adversity is amusing, but you would think they would give him more to do than to fall about. Danny Glover worked in comedy with the Lethal Weapon films, but he also got to do more than merely stand aside and look aghast.

Will they overcome much horrendous developments to discover the whereabouts of the young woman in distress?

You’ll just have to watch the film. Actually you won’t. But it won’t hurt as much as it could have to do so.

Final Rating – 6 / 10. Well it’s ‘pure’, but more in terms of ‘mediocrity’ than ‘luck’.

About OGR

While I try to throw a joke or two into proceedings when I can all of the opinions presented in my reviews are genuine. I don't expect that all will agree with my thoughts at all times nor would it be any fun if you did, so don't be shy in telling me where you think I went wrong... and hopefully if you think I got it right for once. Don't be shy, half the fun is in the conversation after the movie.
