How to ensure a Wasted Evening.

I’ve said it before, but perhaps I wasn’t listening hard enough. Never go into a video store without some sort of vague plan of what you want! Anyway dumb-ass me goes to the video shop. I already know exactly what … Continue reading

Cool As Ice

I have over 5,000 carefully selected and quality screened songs on my ipod. One of them is Ice, Ice Baby. What can I say, I was 16 when it was released, and it was/and is a good song. So when … Continue reading

City Hunter

OK deep breath. This will sound harsh but believe me it isn’t. City Hunter is not only Jackie Chan’s worst film by a country mile, it is also in worst 2% of films that I have seen in 20 years. … Continue reading

How to waste 6+ hours of your life and countless brain-cells without drugs and alcohol?

Step 1: Go to your local video shop and rent the following; 1/ The Vanguard 2/ Look 3/ Vampire Diary 4/ Trailer Park of Terror Step 2: Watch them all. I’m all for discovering “little” movies, the ones that either … Continue reading

Fight Club

I first saw Fight Club when it was released in cinemas and I immediately decided that I didn’t like it that much and it was overrated. I second-guessed myself maybe a year later and rented the video, still thought it … Continue reading

The Death of Joke-Telling

A vicar, a scoutleader and a nun walk into a bar…. No wait, it turns out they didn’t after all. And it seems an odd group of people in the first place anyway… Centuries of people telling jokes has been … Continue reading

Internet Dating

A 20 second review for a movie that doesn’t deserve 20 seconds of anyone’s time. I watched Internet Dating for one reason, Katt Williams, I found his stand up DVDs great and IMDB’d him to see what he was up … Continue reading

Pulling a Pauly Shore

“Pulling a Pauly Shore” is not a reference to pathetic starlets in the 90′s who were willing to do anything to get in the biz. It is a little known but painfully obvious phenomenon that occurs when a new fresh … Continue reading

Playa Hatin’ – Lazy Personal Number Plates

Yes I’m a hater.
Firstly, I sincerely believe that those of us in Gen X and I guess now Gen Y have grown up in the best era of known memory, I might be missing a decade or two during the industrial revolution but I doubt it.
We’ve had a golden era of TV, movies and music, technology has improved at an exponential rate and continues to do so and the last 15 years in Australia has been an unprecedented period of economic prosperity, meaning we could afford to indulge ourselves more and immerse ourselves in all of the above.
During my 20′s I had the constant challenge to decide if I would check a movie, watch high level sport from all over the globe, play a computer game or simply veg out with some tunes, and in the last 5 years since broadband I probably don’t really need to leave the house. I now have all over the above plus I can waste countless hours on the net, including the weeks of the year that I would blow monitoring my fantasy NBA and AFL teams.
Yet despite all our blessings there are still a huge number of things that I simply despise, some things I can forgive and some things I can’t, no matter how hard I try.
Some of these hates are constants and others flare up when I am faced or reminded of them, but rest assured I hate them all no matter how frivolous you might find them. Continue reading
